Oceanside Awarded $9.9 Million for Water Recycle Program

Pure Water Oceanside has been awarded a federal grant for $9.9 million for their recycling water project. Pure Water Oceanside is intended to purify recycled water to create a new local source of drinking water that is clean, safe, drought-proof and environmentally sound. When finished, the project is slated to provide more than 32% of the city’s water supply — between 3 and 5 million gallons per day. The city of Oceanside normally gets 90% of it’s water elsewhere like the Colorado River. Pure Water Oceanside will be the first of it’s kind in San Diego County when it comes to reusing wastewater.
