Holiday Season Brings Joy and Dryness

A lot of people travel for the holiday season, either to a loved one’s home or a vacation for themselves. Now, with that being said, most of those people return home after having a wonderful time away but notice something a bit different about themselves: their skin seems a little drier than normal. Why is this? What happened? Most of the time it is the water. Our bodies are very picky when it comes to certain things, like what food we eat, the temperature of the room, and even what water is absorbed in our skin. Our skin is the largest organ in the body and is treated like a giant sponge when it comes to soaking up water in the shower and bath.

Our skin is very sensitive and can dry out because it has gotten used to the other water we normally bathe in. Not all the water in the world is the same but why is that? Isn’t it just water? The answer to that would be it is a little complicated. Water depends on where it is and more importantly of where it’s coming from. For example, here in San Diego, we get all of our water from the Colorado River by way of Los Angeles. As the water travels from Los Angeles, it is picking up minerals and is chlorinated, among other things, moving down to us. If someone is visiting here from another state, one might say our water doesn’t feel right and it is drying out their skin.

That is exactly what is happening. Since they are used to having their own clean water from wherever they are from, the water they are now bathing in as they are enjoying the holidays is too different for their skin. Here at One Water Systems, we want to improve your water quality. Allowing us to eliminate contaminants found in water like chlorine and reducing the hardness of the water by breaking down the minerals. So, give us a call, bring the joy during the holidays to yourself, your skin, and anyone that might be visiting. (760) 994-4795 Happy Holidays!
